Each October, about half of Atheists United’s board of directors is elected for two-year terms. Nominations for this year’s election are now being accepted and will close at the end of the September 23rd general meeting. Five director-at-large seats are up for election this year. These five seats are currently held by: Christine Brean, Rachel DeWald, Diane Hart, Bobbie Kirkhart and David Stansifer.
Two officer positions are also up for election: vice president and treasurer. A complete list of current board members running for re-election or for board positions other than they now hold is not yet available. All AU members are encouraged to consider running for the board.
Qualifications: AU’s bylaws require those running for board positions other than president to have been members for at least six months prior to the September nominating meeting. The position of president will be up for election next year and those running for president must have completed one year of service on the board by the end of 2013.
An AU member may nominate one’s self or another member prior to or during the September general meeting. Please make sure anyone you nominate wants to run and meets the above qualifications.
