Lori Lipman Brown, the very first congressional lobbyist working on behalf of non-theistic Americans, will make two public appearances October 26 and 27 in Los Angeles and Ventura.
LOS ANGELES, October 1, 2008-Lori Lipman Brown, Director for the Secular Coalition for America, will be addressing Southern California audiences at two public events: Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Center for Inquiry West, 4773 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90027 and Monday, October 27, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the Topping Room of the E.P. Foster Library, 651 E Main Street, Ventura, CA 93001. These events are free and open to the public and are hosted by Atheists United, a non-profit organization whose mission includes promoting the separation of church and state and defending the First Amendment rights of all Americans. The Los Angles talk will be entitled, "One Nation Indivisible: A Call for Allies," and will focus on building bridges between non-theistic Americans and theistic Americans to champion church/state separation issues and religious liberty issues that should be important to all Americans. The Ventura talk will be entitled, "Now Hiring: Pastor in Chief?" and will challenge the idea that a candidate's religious beliefs should determine his/her fitness for Lori Lipman Brown is a lawyer, an educator, and a former Nevada State Senator. Since 2005 she has been the director of the Secular Coalition for America, the first Congressional lobbying organization explicitly representing non-theistic Americans. She has been featured on many news shows from The O'Reilly Factor to USA Today and CBS News and was most recently featured on a hilarious segment on The Colbert Report. The Secular Coalition for America is a 501(c)4 advocacy organization whose purpose is to amplify the diverse and growing voice of the non-theistic community in the United States.
