Join us for our annual Winter Solstice party. We’re going to have great music, great food and a fun time!
Buck Bowen will also be performing a song called The Dragon In My Garage. It’s adapted from Carl Sagan’s book The Demon-Haunted World and illustrates the similarities between an unfalsifiable claim and, well, NO claim at all!
Special guest Dr. Peter Boghossian will join us to talk about his new book A Manual for Creating Atheists. The book provides reader with the tools to talk people out of faith and into reason. Peter is a full time faculty member in the philosophy department at Portland State University. He has an extensive publication record across multiple domains of thought. Peter is also a national speaker for the Center for inquiry, Secular Student Alliance, and the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.
Donate blood at our quarterly donation drive during the meeting. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center will bring their mobile blood donation truck to collect blood for sick patients. On average, each pint of blood collected will help the life of 3 people. Donations will be accepted throughout the party, from 10:30am – 3:30pm.
Toy donation for kids. This is a great time to donate toys to our Toy Loan Center and AU Kids program. The Toy Loan Center is a place where anyone can borrow toys for free, like a library. It would also be great to have extra toys for the AU Kids program.
We’ll also have a fun game to play. So, mark your calendar and join us!
A complimentary lunch is provided after the main event. We’ll get a chance to meet, talk and get to know one another.
Children are welcome to join our AU Kids program. The children have another area where they play and learn during the main event. Parents are free to attend the main event or stay with their children during the meeting. After the main event, we all come together for lunch.
This meeting is free and open to the public. We rely on donations to keep it that way. The monthly meeting costs about $10/person to run. If you are able to, please contribute online or at the meeting.
Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building.
About 80-100 people attend our meetings so you’re sure to have a good time and meet lots of new people.
