Westside Pavilion Mall - Community Room A

Ryan-BellYou’re like a bird who’s outgrown the cage,” said the man who was president of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for the LA County region, and, at the time, Ryan Bell’s boss. It had occurred to Ryan that he had outgrown the Church, yet he preferred to stay on and continue his work as a minister. But at that moment, it hit him like “a wack upside the head with a two-by-four” that, as he says, “the one door in the (metaphorical) house i had not opened was the one that said ‘there isn’t really a god, after all.’” all the old arguments like that “the sense of god’s absence is the sign of his presence,” withered away for good. not long after that realization, Ryan, from the last day of 2013 to the last day of 2014, experimented “living without god” for a year. after that, like the man who breaks away from his chains in Plato’s cavern, there was no going back. he is the national campus organizer for the Secular Student alliance, a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and host of the popular weekly podcast Life Without god.

Complimentary lunch, coffee, tea, and drinks are provided after the talk. We’ll get a chance to meet, talk and get to know one another.

This meeting open to the public. Non-members pay $5 for entry, members have free entry.

The meeting is in Community Room A (Do NOT go to Community room B. They are not close.)
The Westside Pavilion is on the Eastbound side of Pico at 10800 W Pico Blvd where overland Blvd. crosses Pico. There is a parking structure. The first 3 hours are free but the 4th hr is $5 and every 30 mins. after that is $2. Community room a is on the opposite side of the mall about a city block east from Community room B. You want to be on overland and enter the parking that is just South of Pico. enter the mall and go to the 3rd floor food court. a hallway on the Southwest edge of the food court takes you to Community room a. If you are looking down a hallway and Panda express is in front of you and Charlie’s Grilled Subs (not Charlie Kabob!) is behind you and to your right, then a few steps down that hallway is Community room a.(If you find yourself going toward Community Room B, you are going in the wrong direction!)

About 80-100 people attend our meetings so you’re sure to have a good time and meet lots of new people.
