5 reasons our Pirate Party May 3rd matters
Our family-friendly, Street Pirate Art Exhibit and Party May 3rd is important.
You may be thinking Arrr, I don’t believe ye.
In which case, take this volley of information… to send your doubts to Davy Jones’ locker!
1. It’s probably the biggest spring atheist event on this coast.
We’re not omniscient, but we’re pretty sure you won’t find more California atheists in one room this spring. Come and debate us on it if you like.
2. Live music just added
We just booked notable atheist folk and jazz artist Shelley Segal to perform a set!
Shelley combines activism with intelligent, heartfelt tunes — many of which explore her worldview as an atheist.
We’ll also have an open piano for anyone who wants to show off… or lead us in a sea shanty.
3. Food drive vs. hate
We want to collect three pallets worth of food for our monthly giveaway… symbolically burying the most vile pieces of Christian litter in our collection under it.
If you can’t make the party, you can participate by dropping canned or dry food at our upcoming grocery distribution this Friday.
4. It shows we’re not afraid
As one of the US’s most active atheist groups, we have the opportunity to model what we think an atheist community can look like: free, fearless, and positive!
5. Parties reflect our values
Some groups throw summits or conventions. We throw parties. Why?
Parties reflect our atheist values. At our events there’s no pitch, no lecture, no recruiter. If you want to organize, you can. But if you just want to drink, wear a costume, deface a plundered Jesus Saves sign… awesome.
People at our parties are brewing up new projects constantly… like the launch of an upcoming Orange County chapter.
If you want to get in mix with atheists, this party is where it’s at!
