Why we’re offering post-election support groups

Do you have a safe, secular space to discuss the outcome of the election?

Many people don’t. According to a study, 1 out of every 4 nonreligious people — mostly atheists — often experience indicators of social isolation or loneliness.

That’s why we just partnered with Sunday Assembly LA and Pacific Unitarian Universalist Church to host post-election support group meetings for the L.A. secular community.

For those who want to express themselves through other means, we also have our ongoing Saturday Sing-a-Long this Saturday.

In times of crisis, community is proven to help. If you can’t be there but can lend your support, please consider chipping in to cover the cost of having our staff spend time organizing these events.

If you’re worried about the election’s long-term impact to the secular community, now is the time to invest directly in it. As the political climate remains hostile, we can continue to build safe spaces for nonreligious people, and keep bringing positive media attention to atheists.

From protests we attended during Trump’s last term.

Plus, we’ll be doing a lot more advocacy in 2025. We wrote 500 postcards to voters before the election, and that whet our appetite for activism. New membership dues will help us afford to spend time and resources on new projects like this on top of our ongoing events.

Let’s keep our community thriving no matter what!

In Solidarity,

Atheists United
