Christine Jones, President of Atheists United, released the following statement on trans inclusion today:

”In light of recent tensions on the topic of transgender identity that have emerged in secular spaces around the globe, Atheists United would like to make it clear that our organization stands in solidarity with our friends and loved ones who are part of the trans community. We stand and advocate for the rights of those who identify as transgender to be treated with respect and dignity, just as we do for all other marginalized groups. Atheists United does not condone a culture whose actions or language disparage the existence of people who identify as transgender and will, therefore, not provide a space for that type of culture to propagate among our own secular community. Trans rights are indeed human rights. Let us move forward by cultivating the best within ourselves by focusing on empathy, kindness, and inclusiveness.”
